it’s definitely something you need to be prepared to read。my broken mariko is a moving and emotional look into what it’s like to lose someone you love to suicide， to feel like you weren’t there for them when they really needed you， and to find a way to process that grief。 It is definitely not something you go into unprepared for the kind of emotions presented， but it will in the end leave you with a very bittersweet feeling。for a brief second， i thought this was a new piece by anno moyoco from t it’s definitely something you need to be prepared to read。my broken mariko is a moving and emotional look into what it’s like to lose someone you love to suicide， to feel like you weren’t there for them when they really needed you， and to find a way to process that grief。 It is definitely not something you go into unprepared for the kind of emotions presented， but it will in the end leave you with a very bittersweet feeling。for a brief second， i thought this was a new piece by anno moyoco from the cover art。 not sure why i thought that as waka hirako clearly has a distinct style。 the art was all over the place and cartoonish…and perfect。 while i can see those who read it expecting such serious topics to have serious， detailed， and smooth art - this art style added depth to the characters and， for me， improved everything about it。this was a heavily character-driven story and the characters were very well written。 mariko was realistically written as a victim of abuse。 tomoyo was realistically written as a friend who never knows what to do when seeing their friend suffering。 the pain and emotion on each page was real for each character presented。 。。。more

I personally loved this book so much and I related to Shiinoo a lot。 If I ever get the news that a friend had passed I will most certainly react the same way Shiinoo did。I cried a lot while reading this （I read it in one setting less than 40 mins）。The side story didn’t make me cry as I was still thinking about Shiinoo and Mariko so I might have to re read it again :）

This is a very heartbreaking one-shot。 It deals with suicide and abuse so please read with caution。 The final chapter ends in a way where we get a separate mini-story rather than a continuation of a major plot twist at the end。 Although， if this plot twist was written in further detail this story would be double as painful。 I recommend this manga but please do read with caution。
